About the Author
Maggi Petton is a poet and author of historical fiction. Her novels tell of the struggles of disenfranchised women throughout history…women of strength, courage and determination. Whether she is illuminating women’s struggles during the Inquisition, or the American Civil War, her stories weave a tapestry of truth that resonates today. Her characters are full of insight, faith, and depth—women pushed to the breaking point who discover their strength and purpose—and who give us honesty as they learn about themselves and the times in which they live.
Maggi’s poetry reflects both agony and gratitude for the lessons of life. They are prayers of hope and despair, but mostly they are her conversations with the Divine. “The words seem to fall into me,” she says, “during quiet, peaceful times of contemplation.”
Maggi was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago. She and her partner (now wife) of 40 years moved to New Mexico in 1985. They have one daughter whose sense of humor keeps them laughing. When not writing, Maggi has found herself accompanying many friends and family on their death journeys and is now a certified Death Doula. Maggi has been an Occupational Therapist, music teacher, COO of a large therapy company, and franchise owner/operator. Through it all Maggi has always been called to write.
